For The Town Herald, ET's official ezine

So, you want to submit something to The Town Herald?

If you have a one-off contribution to make to the Herald, making a guest submission is the way to go. Your work will be published in the Herald - not purchased, and the copyright will still be your own.

We're looking for: artwork, games, puzzles, articles on all things sci-fi/fantasy/art/photography/writing related, tutorials, personal accounts, humourous articles, general Elftown interest articles, reviews, etc!

The submissions process is simple:
1. Read the Herald and work out what sort of things we're interested in - Remember! We're always open for something different, and guest submissions don't have to fit the theme!
2. Create the piece, or find it amongst work you've already created.
Work should be original and created by you. If work contains any copyright content (or anything found on the internet) please reference it, and we'll consider your submission.
Remember to spell check it if it's a written submission, any very incorrect submissions will not be used.
3. Either post the work you wish to submit here, or, if it's on another existing wikipage, post a link to that page here. Put your username next to your submission, so we know which work is yours.

Please note: Themed art pieces, and poetry can be submitted to the Art Corner and the Poetry Corner.
Artwork submitted here will not usually be featured individually, but should be suited for use as illustrations to accompany written articles :)

2011-04-20 [kians mummy]: is that ok

2011-04-23 [Lord Josmar]: I have started working on my article submission, but it's not close to finished. Can I go ahead and post it up here while I work on it?

2011-04-24 [Kaimee]: Sure thing :)

2011-04-24 [Lord Josmar]: Woot!

2011-04-24 [Lord Josmar]: If any of you want to participate in that article then just let me know, thanks.

2011-04-25 [kamisch]: [Lord Josmar]...just as a message, or add it ourselves?

2011-04-25 [Lord Josmar]: Message, please.

2011-04-28 [kians mummy]: so how long can it take up to to become a herald

2011-04-29 [Kaimee]: Well, I should think it would take an incredibly long time to become a Herald, I'm not even sure which countries still employ Heralds... perhaps the English? If the question is "How long does it take to become one of the Heralders", the answer is that it takes quite awhile too.

This question is really more suited to Herald Hopefuls, but I'll answer here for now.
We prefer for people to submit to more than one issue as a Guest here at Herald Guest Submissions before we decide to take them on as Apprentices, so that we can see the standard of their work and their commitment to the task.
This usually takes between 1 - 3 issues, and as the issues are irregular (1 - 3 a year) the time it takes can vary.
Apprenticeships range between 1 - 3 issues also, and Apprentices are required to contribute to each issue.

2011-04-29 [wicked fae mage]: [Kaimee] This may be better suited for a personal message, but I can take my comment being deleted if it's too off topic; How would you feel about a theoretical article based around table top role playing games? I would construct the article using books on Dungeons and Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, Paranoia, GURPS, The Burning Wheel, Traveler, Dark Heresy, Mutants and Masterminds etc. and from there talk about character builds.

2011-04-29 [Kaimee]: That's not off topic at all, this wiki is for discussing Guest Articles, and as an Apprentice Heralder it's fine for you to bring it up here, where other new/guest Heralders can benefit from the answer too :)

And I think the idea sounds great; we basically just look for articles that would interest general Elftowners. Since we have a whole lot of RPers here, I think it would be great to do an article on the various table top forms :D

2011-04-29 [wicked fae mage]: Alright, I'll be borrowing all of my DM friends' book collections then. This will be a fun article! (I am such a nerd xD)

2011-04-29 [Akayume]: You should talk about the games too. :O Some of those I've never heard of and my interest has been piqued now!

2011-04-30 [Lord Josmar]: Oh there are a poop ton on ganes like that out there that I had bever heard of. I found a bunch of them just searching "RPGs" on www.4shared.com

2011-04-30 [wicked fae mage]: Oh, wow...you both need to come to my college! We play games like that on Tuesdays or Fridays.

Call of Cthulhu- the DM designs a horror campaign where your party tries to live, keep their sanity and prevent Cthulhu from being summoned.

Paranoia- try to kill the party before they kill you...in a way you aren't observed.

Mutants and Masterminds- you play anime characters, usually stereotypes like school girl, fighting master etc in a D&D-like setting.

I am glad my next article idea is already a hit. :D

2011-04-30 [Akayume]: Cool! (: I am looking forward to your article. >:D GIT ON IT.

2011-04-30 [Lord Josmar]: Paranoia sounds epicly fun! Definately going to look into it.

2011-05-31 [Lord Josmar]: Off topic question: Any educated guess on when this issue will be out?

2011-05-31 [Kaimee]: There is no educated guess when it comes to the Herald ;) Hopefully within the month, but we'll keep you posted with a predicted due date as soon as we have one :)

2011-05-31 [kians mummy]: Current Theme: Creation
Deadline: May 5th 2011

its gone passed that???

2011-05-31 [Chimes]: Yes, real life happened as it tends to do. So the Herald is keeping to its tradition of being fashionably late. :)
